The Arrest - GNT
(Good News Translation)
Matthew 2643Jesus returned once more and found the disciples asleep;
they could not keep their eyes open.
44Again Jesus left them, went away,
and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
45Then he returned to the disciples and said,
"Are you still sleeping and resting?
Look! The hour has come for the Son of Man
to be handed over to the power of sinners.
47Jesus was still speaking when Judas,
one of the twelve disciples, arrived.
With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs
and sent by the chief priests and the elders.
48The traitor had given the crowd a signal:
"The Man I kiss is the One you want. Arrest Him!".
49Judas went straight to Jesus and said,
"Peace be with You, Teacher," and kissed Him.
Luku 2248But Jesus said,
"Judas, is it with a kiss that you betray the Son of Man?"
49When the disciples who were with Jesus
saw what was going to happen, they asked,
"Shall we use our swords, Lord?"
50And one of them struck the High Priest's slave and cut off his right ear.
51But Jesus said, "Enough of this!"
He touched the man's ear and healed him.
52Then Jesus said to the chief priests
and the officers of the Temple guard
and the elders who had come there to get Him,
"Did you have to come with swords and clubs,
as though I were an outlaw?
53I was with you in the Temple every day, and you did not try to arrest Me.
But this is your hour to act, when the power of darkness rules."
